Websites For Small Businesses
Full Service - Design and Content
Every small business needs a website that looks professional, showcases its offering perfectly, and is easy for customers to find. While 'drag and drop' website services like WIX appear to provide a free and easy way to quickly get a site live, they come with hidden costs and can't help you with content. Your site will need photographs of your business, creative assets like banners and logos, and perhaps most importantly, written copy that engages with your customers and hits the search engine optimisation buttons that allow those customers to find you in the first place.
Help With Content and Cash Flow
In addition to having 15 years experience building Wordpress websites, I am a trained copywriter and pro-standard photographer, meaning I can provide a one-stop-shop, full website service for small businesses. My small business packages include:
- Photography* - If you don't have suitable images for your new website, a visit to your premises in order to capture pro-level photos is included in the website price. You will also be given copies of these photos to keep and use in your marketing and social media posts.
- SEO copywriting - If you have existing website copy, I will edit or re-write it so that it complies with current on-page SEO practices. If you are starting from scratch, I will write SEO copy for you.
- Branding - I will use your existing logo to create banners and image branding for your new website. These assets will be provided to you for use in email marketing and on social media.
- Wordpress Training - I will show you and your staff how to make basic edits to your new website, which will include changing images, creating new pages, and updating product info.
- Pay over three months** - As a small business owner, I know that every penny counts and maintaining healthy cash flow is a constant battle. To help with this, my small business packages can be paid for in three monthly instalments.
*Areas included in this offer: Tooting, Colliers Wood, Balham, Clapham, Wandsworth, Wimbledon.

Why Not Use WIX or Squarespace?
Drag and Drop or 'AI' website services like WIX and Squarespace heavily market their free subscription tiers as a way to easily build a website at no cost. While this is technically true, they have two major drawbacks for small businesses:
Custom domain names and eCommerce are hidden behind a paywall.
This means that in order to use your personal domain name - mybusiness.com for example - you need to upgrade to a paid subscription tier. The same goes for the use of eCommerce and payment plugins. Using WIX as an example, a small business will need to join its pro tier in order to drop the @wix website address and process customer payments - this tier costs £25 per month.
An inflexible long term commitment
Drag and drop site builders are walled gardens, the website you build within them cannot be exported and used with a different provider, should your needs change. In many cases, design choices you make while initially setting up your site can only be tweaked rather than fundamentally redesigned once the site is live. These issues combine to lock you in to a long term commitment that can see you paying for a service you are unsatisfied with down the road.
A hosted Wordpress site solves both problems
Wordpress itself is free to use, and it comes with access to a vast library of free apps and plugins that can meet almost every customer account and eCommerce requirement you might encounter. The only recurring expense is website hosting, which costs between £5-10 per month.
Wordpress is also infinitely customisable, and allows full site exports. This means that however your business changes over time, your website can be tweaked or completely redesigned to suit your needs, and the entire site and its content can be exported for use in another system should that need arise, too.
